dailyburn

When dailyburn first came on the web a year ago as a beta, the website was terrific. But now they have taken away many of the features and made the pay only. I still think it's a great website. A nice thing they have is the tracker where you can track sleep, workouts and nutrition, all for free, I think this feature has users coming back to the website everyday to enter their data for the day. Another nice part of the website is the color scheme, its focused on cool and calming colors. A final great feature they have is the social networking portion, to keep it's users motivated. One thing I would change is making less features pay-only. I would definatly recommend my friend to this site.

Weather

I have used weather.com for awhile now, only because I've found it to usually be accurate.  I don't really like the overall site design though. One part I do not like is the ads, while they are not intrusive they can get annoying as they are all over the side and top of the page. Another part of the website I do not like is the lack of a color scheme, the only colors used are blue and white and basically all of the color is at the top of the page. Another thing I don't like about it is that the website seems to be overly graphical for a weather website. I would get rid of some of the ads if I where them. I wouldn't recommend my friends to this site, I think there are better weather websites out there.

Youtube

YouTube has been consistently for the last few years been relevant and has enticed and kept daily page views. YouTube has been re-designed a little bit form it's last version, because Google is re-designing most of their products. Most of the changes have been good. One reason I like this site is that they now have a feed of videos that it would think you like and other videos that other people like mixed in with videos from people that you subscribe to. One great newer feature is the video playlist bar at the bottom, here you can add videos that you might want to watch later. A final feature that is great is the sharing button, you can use it to format a link or embed it. One thing that I would change about the website is to create a better comments system, the current one is hard to navigate especially with users commenting on other users comments. I would recommend people to go their as it is entertaining.

Netflix

Netflix redesigns their website very often, trying to make it easier for their users. This redesign in my opinion, is great. A major reason why I like the site is that it is extremely focused on a graphical inter-phase, when I want to look for movies I would rather see the cover of the dvd. I like how if you hove-over a movie it will give a more detailed description. The movie recommendation system works really well. I love that you can look up more movies that an actor or actress is in. I would improve on the television section, it is not as organized as the movies. I would reccomend people to use this service, because it is worth the money.

Beatport

Bestport sells electronic music in many formats. Beatport was recently redesigned from a flash based website and is now HTML5 based. The new design looks impressive with the main navigation take place in the center of the screen, this makes the website very intuitive.  I like the fact that when you play a song it displays the information about the song along the top of the webpage. A final section I liked about this website is the fact that the homepage has new music and the top music all on one page. One thing I would change about this site is to get rid of the genre section near the search bar. I would recommend people go there if they like electronic music.

soundcloud

Soundcloud is a well designed website with music from individual musicians and producers that allows them to distribute their content. Soundcloud is a  website that at first glance looks fun, at second glance you realize that there are more counterparts that make the website more social and one might say, like twitter. The website is good because the content that the artist publishes goes into your dashboard so you can view it. Another nice aspect of the site is that when you comment, you comment on a specific part of the song this allows the listeners be more specific when talking about a song. If I could change something it would be to give the artists more freedom on their pages, currently the only customizable part of a page is a small bio section. It would be nice to have tour dates. I would recommend people to this site if they are trying to find new and interesting music.

Last.fm

Last.fm is a social music site that tracks what songs a person plays on their computer, iPod, phone, and many more devices. Last.fm also connects people with similar interests in music no matter where they are in the world. The website’s home page design is very intuitive, there are no intrusive ads and things like your friends, local events, suggested music and free downloads are all grouped separately. The artist’s pages are also well organized, the navigation is a nice set list down the left of the page, and this is the same for all artists and users.  The color scheme of the website is changeable from red to black and both have a nice white background. I would get rid of some of the clutter on the users and artists pages and leave more room for music listening stats. I would recommend this site to my friends because it is easy to use and offers a unique experience.

Reddit.com

One reason why Reddit.com is ranked in the top 100 of websites is because of their addictive content, the content is so addictive. The content on reddit is addictive because most of the content is added and voted on by the users, this way, if the users don't like the current content they can change it to their own liking and stay on the site. Furthermore the site's design is very simplistic and not distracting from the content. The light blue and white color screen is soothing on the eyes and allow users to spend a lot of time on the website. The social aspect also keeps users, because of the fact that users and comment and then vote on comments it keeps users engaged with the site and content. I would defiantly recommend people go there.

Maison Martin Margiela e-boutique

This horrible website has some great content for clothing and some unique ideas about itself. But the one thing that kills this website is the navigation, the navigation pane is just a default folder navigation panel. The clothing is unique and very fashionable while the website's design is flawed and unattractive. When registering to buy clothes a giant gray box pops up, no doubt driving a few customers. I would send people to this site
